Pure landrace lines are prized for authenticity, yet most commercial growers prefer crosses for practical reasons. Breeders developing indica dominant seeds keep the short flowering time and heavy resin of the Afghan parent while borrowing larger flower size and stronger branching from a sativa or hybrid partner, which typically raises yield per plant noticeably. The first-generation cross also benefits from hybrid vigour, producing more uniform and robust seedlings. Later generations may segregate unless the line has been stabilised.
